This was a dumb move on my part but I had the key switch out for replacement and had to hold it still with one hand in order to crank after I had it rewired and was wanting to check it before tucking it back into the dash. I put my left hand around the switch body to hold it still and turned the key with my right. My left hand somehow touched both of the switch's stator wire screws (shut down shorts these together) and ouch! 350 VAC or so went through my hand. I have no idea how much current, but I'd guess a lot because it hurt pretty bad. I'd think taking that shock from hand to hand could be dangerous. It hurt a good bit more than a plug wire shock.
So be careful if you're working on the key switch and remember it's not just at the engine wire plate that you have stator high voltage. It's also on the key. I won't forget... lol.
