Being one of the people in the "trades" I can agree with first hand experience. I wish I coudl get paid like a doctor too.
As a mechanic, my patients change components, assembly and formats yearly, a doctor's patients are pretty much the same as they were 100 years ago. Go figure.

Now that I have opened that can of worms, I know if they screw up, the consequences can be very dire. If I screw up, the consequences could be dire too, but somehow it's just not the same.

Like many posters here I have done some work myself some times I knew what I was doing and sometimes I didn't I learned many valuable lessons along the way.

Now that I'm at the point in my life where the bills will get paid every month I have decided to let the guy who makes his living fixing boat engines do his job, the electrician do his, and the plumber as well.

With the improvised jack stands, i'd like to know how he got the truck so high!

As for tradesmen and consequences, i'm a car mechanic and if i leave even one bolt loose in the wrong place, we could be talking about lives lost. Yet, most complain at my bill and i get treated like scum. Go figure...
