For the last week or so our 2 yr old whirlpool auto load sensing triple spray technology (top load non digital) washer has been going right into the agitation triple spray cycle as soon as we start it instead of filling, agitating, rinsing and then spininning out. This contraption also has a fabric switch which controlls the amount of time it agitates, temp of water and spin times. If there is anyone of my fellow Iboaters out there that can leand a hand it would be greatly appricieated keep in mind I don't give in easy to calling a service tech. So far I'm leaning toward the ATC/LSContol switch (auto temocontrol load sensing). Once again thanx in advance.

I believe washing machines have gotten just like cars and pickups. All those bells and whistles are just more things to go wrong. Sorry I can't help you. We have a 12 yr old Maytag needing a transmission seal. The service tech made a house call on it and said it was OK to run until he gets the new seal.

This is the reason I enjoy my 24 year old Maytags. They are stone simple, and just keep working.

Sorry that you're having difficulty Fat Fanny. I hope it's an inexpensive fix.

I have gone over the electrical print numerous times and have the basic path of the of the closed loop figured out. Just have to test the components with my meter just wanting to make sure I have at game plan before I start the suspect switch is 85$ and is non-returnable. Like I said yesterday I don't give in to service techs (no offense) but I like to figure it out and fix it myself trouble shooting will save you hundreds once you figure it out.

I think most of us here are with you 100%! That's what separates iboaters from the rest of the pack...we don't mind doing the work on our toys if necessary to save money. And we secretly enjoy keeping the Maytag man (or others) unemployed. Remember the commercials from the eighties? :D

But seriously, I hope you get it figured out on the cheap.

Re: Washing machine issues!!!!!!

When my top load washer finally bit the dust leaking oil all over the floor at about 6 whole years old, I actually didn't mind because then we could upgrade to a front load washer. I've fixed my dishwasher myself a couple times at about 2 and 4 years old (worst $1000 appliance ever) but the front load washer is such a substantial improvement over the top load, I was happy to to get rid of the top loader. The upgrade to a front load washer is really one of the few true improvements in large appliance technology. You can fit 4x the clothing, take 1/10th the time to wash them more effectively and use almost no water plus steam things or kill alergans. Normally upgrading appliances is more form than function improvements but not in this case. I'd opt to fix anything myself but not a top load washer given the energy and water saving alone and if your time is important that too.

lmao front loading is a upgrade. thats like 30year old tech from the uk. i carnt wait till the washer dryers finnaly make it this side of the pond. the sales rep thought i was joking when i asked if they had any. first one i bought 18 years ago was a washer/dryer with crinkle gaurd and timer. chuck in clothes set timer and wake up to clean dry clothes with no wrinkles (it turns drum every few mins one turn so the cloths didnt settle and wrinkle) best part was that it didnt even require a dryer vent it recondensed the vapor and pumped it out with the washer pump.

The first thing I would do is try to find a utube DIY video that will at least teach me about what does what on this newer model. I was surprised to learn that no matter what you are working on someone else has most likely taken the time to make their own DIY video about it.

Yea I wathced most of them and have finnaly learned that you do not have to dismantle the back of the machine to get to the controls internal workings but for the most part I will figure this out but inturn I have written a strong worded reply to whirlpool on thier website for poor disign and not very reliable electrical components. IMHO you should get more that 2 yrs of service out of a $400 unit before experiencing any mechanical or eletrical issues of any kind.
