Hey guys bolted up the lower unit on my 1972 100hp Evinrude electric shift. Started her up on muffs lower unit worked great but I had water coming out the seam where the L/U bolts up to the midsection. Not sure if this is right, should I use a sealer there? Manual is on the way

Want to take her up to camp the weekend and is easier to work on at home, any help is great thanks in advance

That is no problem at all. Normal...

Are you sure water is circulating? You may have missed in aligning the water tube inside the L/U.

You should have used sealer in there. However, there is no problem if it leaks. Just makes you scared something terrible is about to happen. That water coming out the seam has done it's job and is on it's way out anyway.

Sounds like you have it assembled properly. That occurrance of having water leak out that metal to metal area is normal, and it will eventually seal up with salt etc.

However, if it bothers you, simply loosen the lower unit retaining bolts and drop the lower unit down 3/8", then apply some Boat Armor Sealer 1000 (available at many stores) or what OMC used to call OMC Adhesive (don't know what Bombardier calls it) but the dealership would still have it in stock.

Re-tighten all bolts, wait a hour, that should do it. What excess sealer should ooze out you can scrape off.
