water coming out spark plug hole

we have a 1976 evinrude 75643d/j0004014<br /><br />the motor will sit and idle,but when but in gear it died.<br /><br />pulled pulled plugs, and on the bottom plug it appears to have water<br /><br />any ideas? is the motor junk?

Likely a blown head gasket...not a serious problem...Just take the head off...clean the old gasket off and replace with a new gasket.<br /><br />In serious cases..you may have to plain the head.<br /><br />TMD

I might also add...check for damage to the cyl and piston.<br /><br />TMD

we have replaced the head gasket,and visual inspected the cylinder.<br /><br />and water is still getting into the bottom cylinder.<br /><br />what now?

have you checked for water in the fuel

yes using fresh fuel

Blown base or exhaust gasket...you will have to pull the power head to check both of these.<br /><br />TMD

gema: Are you sure there isn't any water in your fuel tank. Water sinks - fuel rises, pickup tube is at the bottom of the tank..<br /><br />Fair Skys

cap yes, pretty sure<br />will replace the other gaskets, then get back with you. thanks
