I have water leaking out of this cooling water control valve on my 1986 Johnson 225. This thing is hooked up to the throttle linkage and it looks like it diverts water up to the t-stats. My OMC dealer doesn’t stock the seals or the valve. Is there anywhere I can get these next day air? Can I get away with a 3 way T connector instead of the valve?

Mac

hello
usually you can disasemble the valve and clean the sand out of it and it will work. or you can buy the update kit and eliminate it. it uses water pressure to hold the t-stats on the seats at lower engine speeds to insure proper cyl temps.

Thanks for the lightning fast response!

I took it appart and cleaned out the goo last night but no change. Would some of the OMC gasket goop (the kind that dosent harden) help out?

What is the update kit and where can I get it?

Mac
