water control valve removal

want to remove this thing off my 88 120 and have read previous threads.<br />dhadley wrote that he likes the use of 93later tstat assemblies and gave this list for conversion;<br />1. 333967 cover <br />2. 329830 gasket<br />3. 434137 tstat assembly<br />4. 320880 seat<br />5. 330273 cup (think he ment cap)<br /> i have cover 339207 which is off my 93 ph. can i use this one along with the other parts?? or is the recessed area going to make a difference??<br />after that is done, does the adapter hose that fed contol valve get plugged or routed to overboard T??<br />the other was that he (dh) also talked about drilling a hole above #1 cylinder to help with air trapped under rectifier, but doesnt say what size hole to drill. im going to assume that it will be the same size as elbow #321886. while i got heads off mite as well do this. your help is needed. thanx

i looked at the pistons and found these #s on them;<br />#1 432373<br />#2 432969<br />#3 301952 KD 20<br />#4 398699<br />looks as if pistons 1,2 & 4 are from diferent years and 3 after market??<br /><br />with out having to start another thread i have this 93 complete bare power head with comp.<br />#1 118 , #2 124 , #3 118 , #4 116 < been going by memory in past> just found tag that came with it. i believe these #s are acceptable and am leaning towards swapping. <on the current motor looks as if there is a hot spot on #3 cylinder <scoring><br /><br /> what is the best way to remove heads on a cold motor? i know what the book says, but its only 50 dgrs in the garage. ill quit to see if i get lucky enough to have someone respond.

ok ill try this question- if i donot use the parts listed above, how do i bypass the contol vavle with the current set up? in relation to which hoses get pluggeg/re-routed.

These numbers are for 1993 120HP same as numbers DH posted.<br />333967 cover<br />329839 gasket<br />333858 spring<br />434137 thermostat<br />320880 seat ( seat sets in the cup)<br />320293 cup <br />398818 cylinder head, same number as 1988

The 339207 cover does not appear to be correct part for 1993 engine.

If you remove the water control valve, you will need to use the parts listed with spring. The valve controls the water pressure holding the thermostat on its seat, at app 2000 rpms the thermostat is lifted off of the seat by reducing pressure and the water in block by passes the thermostat. The spring replaces the control valve.

Do not know where to drill block for vent, or other hose connections.

clanton---thanx for your response to this and others. part numbers you listed 320293 and 329839 dont seem to exist for a 1993 120. the cover #339207 is for a 1993 120 as is #333967. apparently 2 different models for that year using a different setup.
