have a 1963 9.8. weep hole was not weeping replaced water pump impeller and found plastic pipe from pump not on copper pipe. rigged up a hose that would fit over copper pipe and get water from weep hole now, but am wondering if all water should go to engine then out weep hole or should some bypass out prop.

The stream of water coming out of the tell tale is just an indicator that the pump is working, most of the water from the cylinders comes out the lower unit.
