What is the best way to remove the water deposits (white) off the engine without damaging the paint, It's a 175 Merc if that helps

Salt or mineral?

For salt, try plain, old water. For mineral, try cleaning vinegar.

They are mineral deposits but I've never heard of cleaning vinegar. Is it something sourced to the USA only :)

If you can't find cleaning vinegar, use white vinegar. You might check your markets, it's used to clean mineral deposits in coffee pots. It has a higher percentage of acidity, on the order of 6%.

I doubt it's U.S. only. CA Tire carries Allen's according to the website and Walmart has Heinz.
