4 cyl.

Is there a t-stat? Haven't been able to find one.
Only a dribble of water out of the tell hole and the psi guage reads 0-1 at idle and 4 psi WOT. Haven't run it much till I figure out if it's getting proper cooling. New impeller installed. Any places to check for blockage or flush out any restrictions.

Definitely have some issues there. Do you have a manual? Check the poppet valve, and yes you should have a t-stat.

1984 85HP 4-cyl doesn't have a 'stat or poppet.

You need to install a new water pump before she burns up!

Good deals at www.boatfix.com for Sierra Marine aftermarket replacement parts for your Merc.

Cheers............ed

Yes I do have and manual and replaced the impeller.

Ran it a little today at the marina. Not much water comming out of the tell hole still but at the back of the motor where the exhaust is coming out there is a steady spray of water.

I will check for blockages at the tell hole connection to the motor. There is a "T" there for the pressure guage i will have to remove.

Any more thoughts or places to look for blockage?
