I've got a Volvo 255A. Last time out, it overheated. The impeller was completely shot, and getting no water flow to the engine. I've replaced the impeller, and chased down all of the little missing pieces. When I start the boat, I get very little flow through the impeller pump now. Certainly not enough to properly cool the engine. I've pulled off the hose that goes from the impeller to the water pump, and when idling, there is just a trickle coming through the hose. I'm going out to check for loose connections on the inlet side of the impeller pump to make sure I'm not sucking air in somewhere. Anything else I should look for? Could I have installed the pump upside down? I'm sure I put it back the way it came off. How can I tell if it is correct? Looks like the previous owner had some problems with overheating as the thermostat had been removed. I've got the replacement, but want to get everything else working properly before putting it in. Thanks.
