I currently have a fuel/water separator on my boat equiped with a Suzuki 115hp.

Not having had one before I'm not sure as to how to "service" it, or does it need servicing ? Do you just unsrew the cartridge and dump out the water that has collected ? and reattach the cartridge. Or should I just leave the whole thing alone.

Living in the NW I don't think that condensation in the fuel tank is a major issue during summer. However, if I should be doing some maitenance on it, I'd like to know what

Thank you

Re: Water / Fuel Separator

If it isn't a drainable Racor and you're using ethanol based fuel I would change out the filter every 3-6 months, once it's contaminated you really shouldn't reuse it, much like an oil filter on your car.

Rule of thumb is...change the filter element every season, or simply, once a year.

This filter is a 'cheap' insurance policy against fuel issues. There is no gain, only loss, from trying to 'stretch' its use.

Ayuh,..

If you're not having water in the fuel issues,..
Pull it,+ change to a new cannister Annually...

If you Do have Fuel Issues,... the 1st thing to do is swap out the cannister for a New 1...
