Water in back of boat??

I have a 85 Trophy and I have noticed water in the back
of the boat where the batterys and gas tank are. The water only comes in when sitting still. I always remember
to put the plug in. And if setting to long I have to use the
bilge pump. But if I take off for awhile all the water is gone. Does anyone know how the water gets in?

put a hose in it while on the trailer. see where it comes from. Is it filling the bilge or in the cockpit?

I will try putting the hose in and let it fill up and see
if the water is leaking anywhere. Thanks

Taking off and it draining out sounds like a drain plug or the metal tube the drain plug goes into is leaking..

Change the drain plug, I had a similar problem and switched from a flip type to screw type drain plug.

Problem solved

the flip type are adjustable also. hold one end and twist the other. then flip the handle.

I just changed back from screw types to flip types. Not much leverage in confined places to set a screw type properly IMHO. Also, try a non-Chinese made plug if you can find one. Chinese brass is crap in my experience. I'm a machinist and the Chinese know very little about quality control. 8-12 year olds just don't get it.

The drian plug I use is the one that you can turn
clockwise and flip the ring up. I plug the drian from
the outside, is this right? Oh, the boat is fiberglass.

Yep,Try a new plug and be sure it fits good and snug.
Also that the drain hole is clean and smooth,no corrosion...

I haven't had time to check out the leak yet, had to many
honey-do's. But I did have a chance to slip off to Bass Pro Shops Sat. Bought a new plug, its made from a different material then the brass one I had.
