WATER IN CYLINDER

hi there help needed. i seem to be getting water into bottom cylinder of a 50hp 1991 force outboard. runs ok then starts to cough and splutter slow it down to tick over misfirtes and stops. removed plugs bottom plug has a gery mist like oil water mix on it.where do start to remove head and replace gasket.And is this the cause

Best place to start is by getting a manual.<br />The Clymer Force repair manual is available at Amazon.com UK.<br /><br />Otherwise, remove head bolts, separate, inspect.

sounds like a blown head gasket, if you do not have a manual I would get one soon. Good luck

It sounds like a head gasket to me. I use the solec manual and have found it ok. You will need to buy one online as there is now where here in scotland you can buy them from. I use a company in england called Bill Higham marine who you can usually get spares from as spares are quite difficult to get over in scotland
