I have a 1986 50 hp evinrude, model CE50BELCDE.

It has been missing at an idle, eventually stalling. It also bogged down for twenty seconds or so when the throttle was opened up.

Rebuilt the carbs, new plugs and wires - this all helped a bit. Compression was 119 on top and 121 on the bottom. Then I decarbed with omc engine tuner, then things got worse.

Now I have water in the top cylinder ?

I am thinking this is a head gasket - any help would be greatly appreciated.

Worth having a look. You usually get low compresstion readings, but not always.

Well I finaly got around to it, and as suspected the head gasket was to blame.

Not a big deal, but the leak has created a grove in the face of the head under the gasket.

Has anyone had luck filling these ??? if so, what with ?? JB weld ???
