ok,i previously posted about hydrolocking my 99' 235 hampton w/volvo 5.7 sx cobra, happened late at sunset didn't notice it until later that night , pulled and drained plugs and it started right back up.

my question is, how did water get all the way thru the stock exhaust pipe (in the prop) all the way up thru the transom up the manifolds and into the cylinders...it's hard for me to believe. it happened last weekend and the more i think about it the more it's harder to believe ,has this happened to anyone else?

Same thing happened to me when I beached my boat.

Mercruiser's are prone to it.

Did you:

Come down off plane abruptly?
Raise your bow ?
Lower your stern ?

it really doesn't take much. I keep a plug socket in my boat now.

Hey mylesm260 isn't there a way to prevent this from happening or is this is just the way it is?
By the way it happened when I beached it .
