I came in last night from a very short run because the engine was running hot. Initial investigation today was water in the cylinders and in valve covers. Did a compression test and all cylinders were at 180 psi. Where can the water come from besides a blow head gasket which it does not appear to be? What should i do to flush engine? I have drained the salt water from the pump and pet cocks.

Re: Water in cylinders

No water in the oil? You could have an internally leaking exhaust manifold.

Pulled the engine. I have water in the oil, under the valve covers and in the oil pan.

Was reading your post in "Other brands" section and again here.

Water can get in your cylinders if your exhaust flappers are not working, non-existant or damaged. When you stop the water can flow up to the exhaust valves and enter the cylinders. If you have an exhaust manifold leak this can also happen. As Bondo mentioned how much water are you seeing?
