Water in fuel (tank&Carb)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made a Big mistake this past year and didn't
top off the gas tank (about 1/2 to 2/3 full)
When I brought the boat to the marina this summer
it ran find until this past weekend. I had to be towed in because of excess water in filter and constant stalling of engine. I've replaced water seperator and have added dry gas - still won't run
for more then a couple of minutes. Any HELP would be greatly appreciated
Thanks, Bob
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You should have an inspection plate in deck
over the fuel sender. Sender will have two
wires, a ground and a hot to center stud.
Remove sender, and with a "hand" pump remove
water from bottom of tank. Use a clear container
so you can see whats coming out.
Get all water possible - pour a gallon of alcohol
in tank, let sit for 1/2 hour and pump untill
you see clean fuel. Change seperator, you may
have to dump carburetor ?
Before you start job.
Unhook batterries. Scribe a mark on sender
and on tank, sender only fits one way.

befor you do that though, make sure your lines are not plugged. that was my problem this spring. if they are the gas dryer might be enough to get the rest out without the effort, mess, and disposal problems of pumping out the tank/s. or not.
