water in gas tanks

got into some trouble and my boat got swamped I'm wondering how to check for wter in my tanks and how to filter it out?

2 5 gallon tanks one plastic tempo and the other a metal quicksilver

You need to completly empty the gas tank and start with fresh gas. Don't bother trying to filter the bad gas. Why take the chance any get water in the cylimders. 20 gallons of gas is cheaper than a rebulid.

Also, if you don't already have one, install a Water Separating filter in your fuel line. Cheap insurance.

I agree with the water seperating filter, but they can also creat a restiction in the fuel line. After installing one have a dealer or buy a vacume gauge. Any reading over 2.5 inchs of vacume is bad.
