hi ive have a 78 23' Larson, i have noticed that the boat leans a bit with no one in the boat, the gas tank is in the center of the boat, has a v8 and omc 800 o/d, i dont notice any water in the bilge, no holes in the bottom, it did have a small rotted floorboard that i replaced, couldnt see any standing water, its filled with styrofoam, im thinking water got in there, the boat leans to the starboard side, any thoughts

Pull it apart and dry it out.

Remove the foam and then it will dry out. That means removing the deck and discovering rotted stringers....and transom usually :-(

I'm sure what Robert means is remove the foam then the boat will "dry out". Wet foam will never dry out. Never. Take a core sample of your foam with a piece of pipe to see if it's wet. Waterlogged foam can add hundreds of pounds to your boat.

You want a trick, put the hull in a pressure vessel, apply thirty inches of vacuum, let it sit for a couple of days, all the moisture will be gone.

weigh the boat and minus what MFG says boat is supposed to weigh although I am not sure about liquids and gear etc....that are on the boat plus trailer.....just parroting what I have read on these forums

I wonder if that would really work......sure would save a lot of rebuilds :) ,,,,,,guess once it is rotted there is no resurection
