Water in lower shift cable

Hello all, have water dripping from lower shift cable (on muffs). Recently replaced out drive (alpha 1 gen 2) and put in a used gimbal housing (helmet) as shift cable threads were stripped on old one. New cable lines and bellows as well.
O ring was seated but upon pulling drive and inspection the water inlet passage is chipped where the o ring sits. Considering the gasket was new and seated well and the water is cold I don’t see anywhere else this could be coming from. Any ideas? Also was thinking I maybe JB weld ground smooth could be a possible fix? Pic attached. Rip in gasket occurred after pulling drive.

You are correct. If water coming up through the lower cable then the passageway o-ring is not sealing.

You can probably JB weld that back up good enough. Inspect each year and use it.

Pull the cable out of the housing and use electrical parts spray to get the water out of the housing. Blow it out good and let dry. Do not lubricate the cable when you stuff it back in.

I had the same thing occur on mine. My problem and I have no idea how it occurred but the sheathing on the cable had a very slight cut.
