Water in lower unit

Changed tho oil todat. Brown milky oil. The moter did not have a gasket on the fill screw. Maybe I'm wishing but would that cause water to infiltrate? How do you test for leaks?<br />Also on the magnetic fill screw there were a few small frags, a problem?<br /> Thanks, Dead Eye

I usually test for leaks with a pressure/vac tester that I made myself. Fill plug with no washer would be enough to cause water ingress.<br /><br />Small frags on magnetic plug? no problems.<br /><br />Chris..........
