I have a 1991 90 hp evinrude. I have water in the lower unit. I noticed what appeared to be pin sized bubbles coming from the split in the case between mating surface on lower unit. I am assuming this is where i am getting the water from. I plan on splitting it and resealing it. What type sealer should I use? Is it OK to use normal silicone gasket maker?

Re: water in lower unit

the leak is not coming from the joint between the midsection and the lower unit. it would be in the lower unit. have the lower unit pressure tested before tearing into anything.

#1 place for water intrusion is the drain and vent plug seals. these are one time use seals, and if not replaced will leak.
