Today I removed the risers on my Merc 7.4 MPI which has 50hrs on it after a rebore and overhaul. Both risers and manifolds are two seasons old (2yrs old) and are Merc Originals, so are the gaskets and have been used in salt water. They look like new with slight rust in the risers. Manifolds look as new. After removing the risers I noticed that there was water in the exhaust on cylinders 2, 3 , 6, 7. I have no water in the oil and the spark plugs have no rust - but they are black with sooth - I will be replacing them. What can the problem be? Where is this water coming from? The engine starts without any problems.
