i have a 454 mercruiser and water seems to get in my engine whenever I am out for a while and then I can't start the engine and I need a tow. Some times I can spin it enough to. This is the first time it has hapenwith the new engine since being installed. the reason I installed a new engine is it happended in my old block and it seized.I have all new exhaust parts. all are sout 2 years old. What could cause this. The marina told me they think it is the block sitting to low.
But I say the boat would have been a problem a lonmg time ago. It is an 87 cruisers vee sport. single screw with a 454 mercruiser bravo 1.

26' length 10' beam

I have had one hell of a summer with this boat and am about to sink and move up.

I know of flapper valves in the exhaust but they were replaces 2 years ago.

Thanks

why hasnt anyone done a static waterline check. its very possible your risers need a 3 or 6" extension.

can i just buy an extension and istall it. Say a 3 inch extension. That would give me a 7 inch riser?

would be faster to check the static waterline to see if or which extensions would be nessasary
takes all of about 3 min to check it once its in the water
