Water in my fuel tank!

I can't get the fuel tank out because it is burried underneath.

How do I get the water out? I bought a water/fuel seperater and used it and when I took it off there was water in the fuel. I bought a new water/fuel seperater. But I want to get the rest of the water out.

Is there a chemical I can pour into my tank that with get rid of the water or is that bad?

Do I run the tank dry and then fill up with new gas?

Thanks

Re: Water in my fuel tank!

I bought a small 12 volt generic fuel pump from the auto parts store then hooked it up to the existing fuel hose. I connected it to the battery and it drained the tank in about 15 minutes. To my knowledge, the pick up tube is at the bottom of the tank and since water is heavier than gas, it should be sucked out first. I refilled the tank and had no more problems.

You may want to investigate the source of the water. Ethonol? Bad fuel entry? Also recommend installation of a fuel/water separator, $30 at NAPA and easy to install.

Hopes this helps.

Sounds like phase separation.
Hutch is right. Pump the fuel out using the hose before your fuel filter, it pulls from the bottom of the tank, There's a tank treatment from starbright that will help intergrate any ethanol left in there. change the water separator and keep your tank full.
