My pump froze up and when I looked in it the fluid was contaminated with water. I think that the only way for water to get in there is the heat exchanger. It must have rusted on the inside, or froze. Am I correct that this is the only way for water to get into the system?
I pulled the cooler and the pressure lines are in very bad shape. Can anyone help me with finding the hoses? Thanks again. I want to get the most out of this boat, I'm in it for the long haul with this thing.

yes, generally if the power steering heat exchanger is breached it will mix fluids. could be corrosion, errosion, or a breach from freezing.

As I'm sure you're aware, OMC is long gone. Look for a local industrial supply that can make custom hoses from your old samples. They will crimp exact length new hose onto your original fittings, or make all new assemblies. Plug n play. Hi pressure hose is required from the pump to the steering valve. The return line through the cooler can be low pressure. I replaced one on my '84 800 5.7 several years ago, was very reasonable.
