I got water in my gas tank in a 90 Force 70hp outboard. I emptied the tank and started with fresh gas, but when I get it up to speed on the water it will run for a few minutes till it sputters and dies as if there is still water in the gas. I didn't change the filters yet. Any advice?

you need to get all of the old gas, and potentially water out of the system, so drail carb bowls, fuel pumps, lines, etc. and yes, change the filters.

Whoops, forgot to spell check, sorry.

DRAIN the carburetor bowls. There is a potential that you have water setting the bottom of the float bowl..

Is that something that a novice like me can easily do at home in a few hours time? I have the shop repair book. By the way thanks for the assistance

In the following diagram you want to remove reference number 23:

and dump the gas out of it and reinstall it.

If you have an air compressor you can take the fuel hose off of the carburetor and use the air compressor to gently blow out all of the fuel lines in the motor:

Gently apply air to where your fuel tank connects and you will have fuel coming out of the line that went to the carb. Use soup can, etc to catch the fuel.. Really don't need it running all over and making a fire hazard..

Otherwise you'll need to disconnect each line and drain them.
