So just kind of an update on the repairs I've done that some of you have talked me through lol. I replaced the top portion of my outdrive with a rebuilt mercruiser. First run Friday went great ran about an hour pulled it out checked gear lube and add a small amount. Ran again Friday night, Saturday morning oil level was good ran about 6-8 hours Saturday check oil level again Sunday after running about 4 hours and oil was milky. Still thick like oil just a little water in it so I opened the bottom screw and it wasn't milky. So I pumped oil in and let the milky oil flow from top vent hole until oil ran clear. I didn't want water to stay on gears. Plan on pulling the drive tomorrow just want to know what I'm looking for. And what should i expect. thanks in advance

You should except to pressure test the drive. Only way you'll find the leak without replacing all the seals.

A simple DIY pressure tester will help you find the issue. I would start by pressure testing the drive with the upper and lower connected, spray with a soapy solution and look for bubbles. Then separate the upper from lower and test each. It may be a simple shaft seal.

Ok I will try and find some information on pressure testing a drive. I was hoping that I just didn't get the vent screw gasket set but don't want to chance it and be setting around waiting for another drive.
