Merc 98 bravo 5.0L (ser # 0L093162) winterized by marina mechanics. Dipstick shows milky oil, way overfilled. Have not attempted to start yet.

Will water contaminate oil pan on a cracked block without running/ cranking.

At time of winterization, mechanic noted oil was dirty, noting else ( no mention of milky or overfilled).

New mechanic says it probably the exhaust manifold/ riser gaskets. Is he just taking me for a ride knowing its probably the block? Or are my rings bad. Last year it seemed to be running fine @wot!

Oil has to be run with water in it to become milky. If you just pour water into oil, the water sinks to the bottom. The oil pump in the engine emulsifies the water and oil and causes it to be milky.

That much water will not get into your engine from the exhaust manifolds.
