Hello
today i changed my oil for the first time since last year when i put it away. when i went to pump the oil out the oil was a creamy white.
i fallowed the manual last year when i winterized it. i pulled the drain plugs on the block, drained the water from the water pump, and than filled it with antifreeze. i also drain the manifolds and filled those. so i cant imagine there was any water left in the motor. could there have been some moisture in the motor from sitting all winter? could that cause the oil to look like that? should i try changing the oil a couple times and see if it clears up or is that a waste of time?

when you pulled the drian plugs did you poke a wire into the holes to clear any crud out??

did you ensure water actually drained out of the drian holes??

just pulling the plugs isn't enough, you need to verify water drains out

Re: water in oil...please help!!!

i did clear te holes and alot of water ran out.
i just was looking over the motor and i noticed on the right side valve cover there is a oil fill cap. i went to twist it off to see what the oil look like on that side. the cap pulled right of with out twisting. i tried to put it back on but there is a drain plug in the way. so i lossened the riser so that i could get it back on. it took me 4 turns to get the oil cap back on tight.
i pressuer washed the boat last night and i sprayed around the motor. do you think that water could of gotten in threw that cap?

How dirty can a boat engine like yours get?

Try getting the oil clean by changing it a few times. Use a new filter each time!

Agreed. Did you start the motor with water inside?

the motor is clean. i was washing the inside of the boat and around the motor. i didn't directly spray the motor. i'm going to try to change the oil again tonight. riptorn i believe water got in when i was washing the boat because i started the boat after washing it down.
