Water In Oil

I was out today not for long and noticed I didnt have much power. Opened up the engine bay and pulled the dipstick and the oil looked to be a dark kakhi color. Where it showed some water in the oil but not a bunch. So that points you in a direction of a seal gone bad I know this. But, I also saw that there was water sitting on top of my 05 4.3 merc in a Mariah where the engine bay cover is the only way you get on and off the boat when you are in the water. I also saw that the oil filler tube was loose and saw the O ring. So this tells me that water got down in the oil through the filler tube.

This is what I was going to do to remedy the situation and want to know if I was on the right track. I am going to drain the oil tomorrow completely. Go in with half engine oil half diesel fuel. Start the boat and run it for 5-10 minutes. Drain that. Then put new oil and just oil this time in. Let the water run on the lower part of the motor just to make sure that I dont have water coming in from the jackets or anything else that I may not see at the moment. Check the oil and if it looks like oil and no water then I am going to take it out run it for a few hours. Bring it back home change the oil again and not worry about it.

I have since ordered a new oil filler tube with O ring just to make sure that I remedied that situation. I would like to know if there is any other advice I should do on that front and know that I am heading in the right direction. Any advice would be great.

Ayuh,..... Skip the diesel fuel thing, 'n just change the oil, 'n go run it for an hour or so, 'n then see if there's more water, or not,....
