Hey everyone, so I just had to get rid of 200 litres of gasoline due to water contamination......tried to save it via fuel transfer pump through a water separator and particle filter with no success, just too much water. So my question is does anyone use a fuel additive to help prevent this? This boat is new to me and sat maybe a year before I bought it, any advice is welcomed thanks again.

Your best defense is to make sure your gas fill does not leak and you don’t have water laying on top of the gas tank. I replace the gas caps every few years because the gaskets start to dry out.

If you’re using E10 fuel you don’t need an additive to absorb water since there’s already 10% alcohol in the gas. You’d do better to add a good water separating fuel filter such as a Racor with the metal bowl. They do make a version that fits the OMC filter base.
