I have a Johnson 9.9hp 10RL76H and I cannot find the water indication hole. I have read the following that shows it should have one but I must be blind!

The early couple years of motors used just a rubber tube poking out a hole in the lower motor cowling at the right rear. The later ones exited from a plastic insert in the same cowling.

Can anyone direct me where to look? I have had the cowl off and cannot find any tubing anywhere associated with water indication

Thanks

Ian

Re: Water indication on Johnson 9.9hp

Aussieian
I have a 1975 15 HP Johnson which is same motor with a different Carb and a year older. My motor the hole is just below the latch for the top cover and it does not have the "PEE" hole like the newer motors. Running motor on ear muff flusher water will not come out this hole but exit above the cavation plate. On the boat in the water or run in a garbage can water will exit the top hole. Motor should run hot enough that you can only hold fingers on top of block for about 2 seconds. Hope this helps.
