Anyone have any idea how you get to those little screens in the bottom of the foot to change them. I have my lower unit and water pump off but there seems to be no access to change them.

let me know when you find out. I 'm not even sure how to get the lower unit off, but I'm gonna try tonight.

Does it slide out? I just had my LU off and mine slide up and down inside like a bolling ball...

Makes me wonder if mine should be secured...

Lower unit is a sinch to take off I would suggest you take your carbs off if your motor is anything like mine to give you easy access to the the shift linkage that sits tightly up underneath them.

No need to take the carbs off. Just use a flex socket on a long extension to reach the disconnect screw.

The screen will come out once the water pump is off. I don't know if it applies in this case, but I believe on some models you have to remove the seal housing below the pump because the screen won't go past it.

The screen snaps in place. Easiest way to get the old one out is to break it and fish out the pieces. Push the new one in till it snaps and you are set to go.
