I have a lower unit that is supposed to be from a crossflow V4. I am not sure what it is off of because the seller misrepresented it. He said it was off of a 96 115 and I have studied the parts diagrams online and to the best of my ability I have dated it as between 1978 and 1982. It has the modern shift rod and water pump but has no slot for a sacrificial anode, also has six holes above the cavitation plate instead of 2 slots which I think pretty much puts it in that time frame. Anyway this brings me to my question. The water intake screen is missing and I tried to install the intake screen that is listed for all the crossflow models between 1978 and 1998. That screen apears to be too large. This confuses me, I need to figure out what screen to buy. Does anybody know if the screen for a pre 1978 or the one for a V6 is smaller than the standard screen for a crossflow V4? This gearcase has to take one of those screens, the V4 screen wasn't even close to going in the slot.
