I have had this 12' waco aluminum flat bottom jon boat since 1980. the boat is in great shape except fo a few dings here and there...It is welded and rivited. I filled it with water to try and see where a leak could be. It showed nothing. but after about 2 hours on the lake, it gets about an inch of water across the whole floor? I have thought about putting that spray on or roll on rhino lining all inside the boat to stop any leaks. or clear caulk every seem? The caulking would be cheaper but im afraid it would look very trashy? anyone have an idea to solve this problem?
thanks,
suzuki40

You really need to find where it is comming from before you seal everything.i would put it in the water again and see what and where it leakes it might be leaking when the boat is flexing in the water might just be a rivet or 2. also get some 5200 marine sealer its for above and below the water line that stuff works great.

make sure the inside is completely dry, and launch. cover the inside with baby powder. should help you find a small leak. good luck-

wayne, is this "5200 marine sealer" clear? I assume its not a thick paste more of a thin liquid? if its clear im just going to seal all seames and rivits?

Suzuki40

life seal is fine, so is life caulk. both rated for below the waterline. life seal bonds any material except wood.

On my old glass boat it would leak in the river, but when I filled it up it wouldn't leak. to actually find the leak, Had to fill it up and Then Get IN the boat full of water. The flexing let the nasty little bugger open up and leak... Might give that a whirl..
dave
