Hello everyone,
I have been suffering from a water leak on my boat and it took me foreverrrr to find it.
I had to take the engine out and I drop it in water, I finally found the leak.
ok so as you can see in the pic, it is leaking water from right between the transom and the gimbal ring right under the Y pip.
I'm a new boat owner so I apologize if my terminology is wrong.
please look at the pics and tell me what you think. I plan on taking out the gimbal housing and look deeper.
in the second pic, see you see from the other side, it doesn't look like there is space between the gimbal and the hull.
in the third pic, is it normal to have this hole open?
sorry if the pics are outta focus, I used my phone.

Please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Re: water leak into bilge area

I forgot to mention that the leak was bad enough to have the bilge water pump running almost every 30 seconds.

Not normal. Check your transom it may be rotted as well. Sometimes it just gets loose and you can reseal and re tighten it.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,...

I'm guessin' when ya get the transom assembly off, yer gonna find a rotten transom,...

I believe yer last shot is the exhaust's idle relief ports...

Head on down to the Drydock, you'll find yer not alone,....
Lot'sa ideas on how to get 'er Done....
