Water leak?

I have a 2012 Southbay and the motor is mounted off the back on a steel (maybe aluminum) box that runs back under the boat about 3 feet, I think the gas tank is inside the box was well. What is the name of mounting?

The box is pretty deep and has about 8 inches of standing water that I have tried to pump out with a siphon hose but did not seem to make any dent it in.

I looked around the dock and other toons had similar boxes but had openings where the water would not stay in there.

Is it normal for that much water to be standing or is the box so full that I need to keep pumping it out?

The transom should have drainage holes in the back corners. Can you get there to drill some? Is this a enclosed transom? If the fuel tank is in there be careful.

i did not see any holes unless they are well below the water line, the tank is in the center and is set of from the back about 8 inches. I am going to get some goggles out next time and swim around underneath and check for drain holes

When at rest my transom is not underwater. Maybe some more information is needed. Boat type motor size etc?

You would think the manufacturer designed the way it is for a reason. I would ask the dealer what the deal is before I made changes.

ours fills with water also and drains out when you get up on plane or pull the boat out of the water you should be able to feel a drain hole just be careful the edges could be sharp.

is the water the same depth outside of the boat? That is like our boat only our gas tank is up high there should be drain holes in the bottom get it out on plane and check the level if there is still water in there I would pull the boat out and check the back the drain holes are plugged.
