Hello all,

I have a 1988 Baja Ski Sport which runs great, however has started to leak water while docked. The water leaks where the exhaust pipe meets the rubber exhaust hose coming from the manifold. Upon closer inspection there seems to be a patch job from the previous owner...i can only guess the pipe cracked and he had it patched with what looks like fiberglas (not sure exactly what it is). Any suggestions of what to use to repair this so i can continue to use it until this fall? The leak is equivalent to roughly and eyedropper drip every minute.
Thanks!

Pull the hose and give it a thourough inspection before you go out next time. You might need a replacement before that trip! The middle of the lake or ocean is no place for the manifold to break open a quarter size piece and drop it on the engineroom deck. By the time you would notice the water it could get real exciting.

Inspect and replace if needed. Boat in confidence.

A small chip that is not part of a larger spalling process can be repaired with fiberglass repair tape that is sold at the big box stores in the plumbing department. I keep a box of the stuff on board my launch as it will take the heat all the way up to my running pressure. This allows me to get home and REPLACE the injured part before going out again.

The repair didn't work, replacement is probably what's needed. First you need to identify exactly what parts need replaced. If you are not sure, take some pics of the damaged parts and post them here.

I would replace whatever he "patched". Have a picture of what was done?
