Water leaking Problem in Cabin

I just bought a 2000 Maxum 2700SCR Cruiser. There is an issue with Water soaking the carpet around the outside of the bathroom. It's along the edge right where the carpet meets the bathroom and one spot that is about 8" away from the border of the bathroom.

It only seems to get wet when we pump the toilet which makes me think the toilet water is leaking out somewhere. It doesn't make sense to me though as the carpet has Fiber Glass under it. I don't see any leakage going from inside the bathroom to the outside flooring.

I'm thinking about pulling the carpet back to see where the water is coming from. It does smell like urine when blotting up the water from the carpet.

Anyone ever run across this type of issue and know what it might be?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Kent

Ayuh,....

If you're mopping up water that smells like urine,....

I guess I'd inspect the head's Plumbing 1st.....
It's obviously Leaking somewhere between the head,+ the tank...

Thanks for the input. However the tank is the opposite direction of where the water is soaking the carpet. That's what is puzzling me. Unless it's actually spraying water up in some nook underneath the bathroom but the water in the front bilge there does not show any signs of tainted water from the toliet.

Guess I'm going to have to tear into it and figure it out. Of course I'm going to try and get the dealer to fix it 1st even though the boat did not come with any warranty.

One of the mechanics there told me they didn't get to check things out on the boat and just put it in the water for our test crusise. We didn't noitice any problems until we started using the toilet.

It seems to me that they should have to fix this since they didn't check things out before selling me the boat. Especially since I paid $38K for it! It's a very nice, clean boat but this issue is pissing (pardon my pun!) me off!

Anyone agree that the dealer should have to fix this at no charge?

It is usually "buyer beware" so that it was your responsibility to hire your own surveyor to go over the boat. I assume if you have a holding tank you have a vacuflush toilet. If the dealer is nice enough to fix it, that would be great but he has no obligation if you signed accept deal "as is". Pehaps if you post a picture indicating where the leak is, it would be helpful.

Yeah I know but in this case we wouldn't have discovered the leak until the next day after we signed on the deal. The boat was in such great condition I didn't expect this little surprise. I didn't feel a survey was necessary on this boat.

The toliet is a Std Jabsco Manual Flush toilet. I have replaced these toliets in my old boat 3 times and am very mechanically inclined so I think I can find the source and fix it if the dealer bails on me. I will be checking all fittings and the seacock for the toilet to make sure it's not leaking. I have kept the seacock closed since I discovered the leakage but it didn't stop the problem.

I will get some pics and post if I can't resolve this thru the dealerv or on my own.

Thanks for yoour input though, I appreciate it.

Good luck. BTW, the 2700 SCR is a very nice boat. I almost bought on myself until I stumbled upon my Chaparral.

Yes, I do like the Maxum Cruisers. They just seem to have more storage and you can stand up in the bathrooms without ducking your head. Our bathroom on our 23ft Maxum had more head room than most of the 26-27ft boats we looked at. The 2700SCR has even more room in the bathroom than our 2300SCR did.

We have had real good luck our 2300SCR and liked the styling of the 2700SCR so we stuck with what we know.

The Chaparrals are very nice boats too. I looked at few of them also but felt I got the best deal I could find locally.

Thanks again for your help!
