on my 85 Johnson 150, should water be coming from the lower pivot point? This is right behind the plates on the lower mid section. I saw this when hooked to the muffs. I know I have the drain holes on the lower unit and the pee hole on the lower crowling, but what about this. Is this the main drain? The reason I'm concerned it water the pressure gauge on reads 13 lbs at best, even will at the lake. Earlier I posted about having the gauge inline with the pee hole. Now I have been told to block the pee hole. Any input. Should I replace the water pump? Manual doesn't give a water pressure recommendation. I'm starting to believe this Clymer was a bad investment. Thanks :)

Re: water leaking???

bmurray,
I thought we discussed this once before. The water pressure gauge set-up you have should have come with a tee. The line to the gauge tee's off the line going to the tattle tale. If you have the Evinrude gauge kit, the instructions will show that. My 200 hp Evinrude has 18 psi of water pressure at wfo. This is with the pressure sensing line tee'ed with the tattle tale.

c/6

Hooty

Also your pressure will be down if you have removed the t'stats. I prefer to clip (gut) them on your type motor. That allows a free flow and will still maintain pressure.

So. How's it running?

Dhadley,
Am I understanding that you are saying to run his engine without t'stats? Would you mind explaining?

Thx & c/6

Hooty

Re: water leaking???

The dealer suggested block the pee hole. This will allow trash to get into the gauge if you don't. I still want to know if water should be coming from the lower pivot area of this motor. Dhadley. as for your question on how the setup is running, look at my other post on setup update. You may have to search by my member #. There are a few questions in there you may be able to help with.
