While going out to the jetties in Mayport fl. when I got up on plane water started to pour over the starboard side. This is only the second time I took this boat out in the river. 16ft flatbottom with a 25hp honda. My son in law said it might be the transponder flinging up the water. Has anybody ever experienced this before. I was thinking of putting up a splash plate or something. Within 2-3 mins. 7-8 inches of water is in boat.

Next time have you son in law move to the bow and see what that does, my boat will fling water in off the cav. plate of my kicker when too much weight is in the stern, but yea some trasducer brackets are bad for causing spray.

Re: Water over starboard side of transom

that is a serious safety problem and highly unusual.

Was the water coming up the side of the boat and over the rail?

Is your motor set too high?

As suggested, are you dragging the stern?
