Water Pick Up Tubes and My Water Pump

40HP Johnson Model RDSL-25D Sn# 2362579<br /><br />I was replacing the Impeller on my water pump, and noticed some odd things.<br /><br />#1 There is two outlets on the top of the water pump housing, but only one had a rubber grommet. The one without a rubber grommet has no hole going into the water pump.<br /><br />#2 I have two tubes coming form the upper unit, one goes to the water pick up on the bottom of the prop and the other goes to the water pump grommet.<br /><br />Is it possible that the water pump housing was replaced with the wrong one or did they manufacture this housing universaly, and no tube goes into this closed off hole.

If you are describing what I think you are - Three things come down from the powerhead to the water pump, one the driveshaft, another is the water tube for the water pump - the other is the shift rod.
