I bought a 1971 50 hp evinrude. could someone tell me how can I tell if water is being pumped up to the engine? I checked the impeller and it is fine. But there is no water hole outlet around the engine that tells me water is flowing. Where are the water ports? Once the impeller pumps water up to the engine where does it come out?
Thanks for any help you can give me?

Re: water ports

Your engine does not have a tell-tale, you could add one if you want. The water will come out through the prop. With the boat running in the water you will get some spray out of the two exhaust ports on the exhaust housing. If you run it on a hose there will be no water coming out of the exhaust ports because the exhaust housing will not fill with water on a hose.
