I started my boat for the first time last night on the garden hose, however i dident see lots of water shooting out side ports, I was in netural, does the boat have to be in gear to make the water shoot out the side ports, I was told the motor has a bran new impeller installed, so i don't think thats a problem.

Will it ruin something running off the garden hose in neutral, with no prop spinning?

What do you mean with the side ports?
You 125Hp has two holes at the back cover whitch are idle relieaf ports. Some water will spit from there but most of the water enter through the snoat above the prop if it has a single exhaust gearcase.

If it has a dual exhaust case it will enter through the prop center and the snout.

Oh ok, i was under the impression more water should be coming out, like possibly further up the leg above the prop....around exhaust hight, i have never seen this motor or anyother boat motor run on a garden hose before this

It could have water coming out the ports? maybe not?
How much pressure on the hose?
My 85's the water came out the ports and the snout on the cavitation plate.

The hose is a poor source.
Run it in a bucket, 2-4 inches over the cavitation plate.
