not sure if anyone out there can help me. i have a 1982 larson 25' cruiser. i have a sink and shower and i have no idea how to get it to work. i am afraid to add water cause if the pump is broke then i am stuck with 20 gallons of water and no way to get it out. is there a pump somewhere i am missing. i have a couple switches on my dash for water pressue and when i switch it on a light goes on so it has power... any input would be helpful......

A lot of water systems like that work when you turn the faucet on. The pump won't run until the faucet is on. Motor homes and trailers have similar systems. That would explain why you don't hear the pump.

Try putting 5-10 gallons in the tank and turn on a faucet with the switch on. That oughta do it.

The pump is located in the vicinity of the water tank. Turning the pump switch on should cause the pump to run even with an empty tank. The pump has a pressure switch on it that once pressure is built up in the system the pump shuts off. When you open a tap, water will flow until the "cut-in" pressure is reached at which point the pump will run again until the "cut-out" pressure is reached. The pump may run almost continuously if you have a tap full open, or it may cycle if you have just a partially open tap.

Just start out with a little water, a couple of gallons instead of filling up the tank. Make sure you flush out the tank as if it has been sitting for a while you should make sure there is no mold or mildew in there.

A tank must be more than flushed if you intend to use the water for cooking or drinking. It must be sanitized, then flushed thoroughly.

like the others said, turn on the switch at the helm and then open the faucet. even without water, you should hear it come on. if that doesn't work, add some water and try again. but in reality, there has to be a way to get to the pump. start opening hatches and looking around.
