Hey guys, so the tail tail wasnt spraying any water. So I change out the water pump, everything went smooth. Start it up still nothing. I look in it and its clean. I then start chasing the hise down, and there it is not even plugged up. I have an older 1150 inline six and it appears there is only one port on the water jacket. They toom the tail tail lose and plugged the gauge in there. How can I have both with one outlet? If I run a t fitting the gauge wont work right because tbe tail tail will let pressure escape. What are my options? Thx

I know on my 84 the pressure line fitting was about 1/2 way up the water jacket cover, and the tel-tale was on a fitting on the top of the block. You can get a fitting where the gauge gets a larger flow to it and the telltale hose is at a 90 degree angle and has a small restriction in it.
You don't need a high pressure gauge for that engine, it will never put out more than 7 psi, usually about 5.5 at WOT. The V6s used a higher pressure system and needed a higher pressure gauge than the inline did

Put a brass tee in the telltale line and hook up the pressure gauge. The water pressure will be low, but get a 15PSI gauge, and you should get a reading.

The V6 motors are a little higher in water pressure (say 15PSI max), but not much.

Ok thx guys I will look at those options. I found a T that was supposed to come with the gauge kit. It gives free flow to the gauge and a small restricted hole to the tale tale.

Gee, I used a tee I found at the Home Despot on my '77 IL6. The threads are NPT. You will need a brass pipe nipple as well.

Also I believe the tell tale won?t send water until the motor is warmed up , and also it may never do it if it?s on ear muffs... mine won?t tell unless in the lake or a bucket, once it?s warmed up...

Inline six motors do not have thermostats, like many Merc inline motors. On these models, the telltale stream starts very soon after starting up. There is no wait for the thermostat to open, like on V6 motors.
