water pressure question

I have a merc 60 with a water pressure guage that comes from the top of the block. I recently rebuilt the engine and the hose that comes from the top of the block to the telltale opening is open as I couldn't find a rubber fitting that was the original part. It necked the hose down to a small opening. Now it is wide open and peeing a stream a half inch in diameter. Won't this change my water pressure reading? Should I try to find a rubber fitting or will this be an issue?

Yes, replace the fitting

Thanks Laddies,
I will replace it if I can find one. My dealer said it wasn't availabel any more. Maybe he didn't try hard enough. Thanks again.............Jerry

Jerry, ck at BAM Marine site

Thanks,
I found it at Mercury Express. They have parts blowups and descriptions and part numbers and prices.
I don't know why my dealer wouldn't order it for me. I spent over 500.00 on parts and he won't order a 3.00 rubber nozzle.................Jerry

Re: water pressure question

Some dealers are better than others. I will not deal with one who is not on mercury parts express. Too many bad experiences and wrong parts.
