Hi guys,
Was wondering. If I want to fit a water pressure and water temp gauge to my 1970 1150, how would I go about it?
Would it be possible/adivsable to simply Tee the water pressure to the top of the head where the tell tale comes out, or is there a specific plug I can use?
And the same question for water temp. Where would I put that sensor? Also, since the unit does not have a thermostat, what kind of readings should I expect?

And if I were to add an exhaust gas temp guage, where would the most logical place be to add it? ie. where does that hottest exhaust gas flow?

Re: Water pressure, Water temp and EGT

Mercfan, I installed a water temp and a water pressure on my '77 inline six. You will not get a reading on the water temp gauge, since the motor has no thermstat. You are wasting your time on that.

The water pressure gauge is a bit more useful. The inlines have only 3-5 PSI. so choose the low reading gauge. During operation, if the gauge "moves" at all, your water pressure is OK. It may be installed in the head, if you have a unused plug that can be removed. Alternatively, you can put a tee in the telltale line to run the gauge.
